In this day and age there are so many competing makes and models of vehicles available and so many dealers selling them that it is a difficult task for the prospective purchaser to try to figure out where and what he or she would like to buy. In the clamor to attract the buyer's attention, it is equally difficult for a dealer to try to stand out from the crowd. At Parklane, we have put together a series of both sales and service initiatives that we feel makes our dealership stand out from the rest, and makes the customer the focal point of every day. We accomplish this by using a simple idea - make the whole process of buying and servicing your new or used vehicle as simple and transparent as possible and treat every customer with the respect that we ourselves would want were the shoe on the other foot. In other words, deal with honesty, integrity, eliminate the hidden surprises that no one likes and, above all, make a total committment to satisfying the customer before, during and after the sale.
While these ideas are easily (and often) used by other dealerships in one form or another, we back ours up with an action plan that we feel accomplishes this philosophy on a day to day basis. For example, all our vehicles are clearly marked with the list prices and , in the case of new vehicles, any additional charges such as freight, PDI and accessories. Used vehicles also have window tags that show the year, mileage and major features of the unit. The sales consultants have up to date information on the Acura's we sell as well as competitor's vehicles and information sheets on every used vehicle in stock. This allows them to share all pertinent information with the potential buyer before a deal is ever written and eliminate that " oh, by the way I forgot to mention to you....." as you leave the dealership with your new vehicle. And if we can't answer a question for you, we'll get the answer and get back to you rather than making something up on the spot.
Every new vehicle is delivered spotlessly clean and full of gas. Your sales consultant will take as much time as necessary to familiarize you with your new Acura, then follow-up the next day to make sure you have no unanswered questions. You will receive a pamphlet detailing all recommended services that clearly indicates when the service is neccessry, what will be performed and how much it will cost. Again, no surprises!! Oh yes, every new Acura we sell comes with 'Free Brakes For Life', which means that you only pay for the labor, we supply the pads for as long as you own your car. Pleasant surprises are OK!
Most used vehicles are backed by our Parklane Preferred Customer Program (PCP). This includes a 7 Day Exchange Policy, 30 Day Limited Warranty, Free Brakes For Life and Discount Oil Change Program. If the vehicle you are buying qualifies for PCP, you will be explained the details of the program before you finalize the purchase. If the vehicle is being sold 'as is' with no warranty, you will be told that too. And everything will be clearly written on the sales contract so there is no misunderstanding.
Our Parts and Service department also bends over backwards to make your experience as pleasant as possible. We have a policy of maintaining one of the lowest labor rates of any major franchised dealer in the area, yet provide free estimates, courtesy cars (subject to appointment and availability), a shuttle service, and a complimentary wash and vacuum for your vehicle. We also will contact you if we find something on your vehicle that we feel requires attention and get your authorization to do the work beforehand, not surprise you at the front desk with a much larger bill than you were expecting. And just to make sure you were totally pleased with our department, we do make regular (albeit random) follow-up calls as one final measure to ensure that we have not dropped the ball in any way. No wonder our service department always ranks in the very top echelons of the Canadian Acura dealers when it comes to Customer Satisfaction surveys, something we are very proud of.
