Mini Makes A Million
April 8, 2007

Time flies when you're having fun — after six short years, the one-millionth Mini has rolled off the assembly line in Oxford, England.
The special Cooper S is Pepper White and Almond Green, both inside and out, and features a roof decal with one-million little Minis. The car is destined for BMW Group's heritage division, Mobile Tradition.
Since its launch in 2001, Mini has defined a new market segment: the premium small car with a worldwide presence and a comprehensive range of customization options. From Chile to China, Mini is enjoying growing popularity among customers across 80 markets around the world. Initial forecasts called for 100,000 annual sales — actual sales have come in at over double this number.
Production at Plant Oxford has expanded accordingly over the years, starting in 2001 with 300 Minis built per day by 2,400 workers over one shift. Today over 4,700 workers build up to 700 Minis per day over three shifts. Capacity has increased from 100,000 to 200,000 per year with a goal of 240,000 in sight.
With the refreshed Cooper and Cooper S, Mini expects its best year yet in 2007.
