You knew it was coming but nothing could prepare you — hot on the heels of the redesigned Mini comes the high- performance John Cooper Works edition.
Based on the Cooper S with its turbo 1.6-liter four-cylinder, the JCW bumps up horsepower from 175 to 192. Torque is 184 pound-feet from 1,750 to 5,000 RPM — with an overboost function for brisker acceleration that temporarily brings it up to 199 pound-feet from 1,750 to 4,500 RPM.
Other go-fast goodies include 18-inch alloy wheels, vented front brakes, a lowered sport suspension, sport exhaust system, sport air cleaner, body-color aerodynamic kit, sport seats and steering wheel, plus carbon-fiber highlights.
The Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works will make its world debut at the Geneva auto show next week.
