The overall International Engine Of The Year: BMW's twin-turbo inline-six
BMW's middle name is Motor, so it's no surprise that the automaker is the top winner of this year's International Engine Of The Year Awards.
BMW won seven awards for four engines — including the top prize for the third year in a row. The overall International Engine Of The Year went to the 3.0-liter 300-horsepower twin-turbo inline six-cylinder.
This engine also won Best New Engine Of The Year and was chosen tops in its displacement category (2.5- to 3.0-liter).
BMW's 507-horse V10, which powers the M5 and M6, won Best Performance Engine for the third time and was chosen tops in its displacement category (over 4.0 liters). The V10 is a previous two-time winner of the overall top award.
The last two awards went to BMW's 218-horsepower 2.5-liter six-cylinder.
Also related, BMW's Mini brand jointly collected an award with PSA Peugeot Citroen for their turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that can be found in the Mini Cooper S.
A jury of 62 international automotive journalists bestowed the awards.
